    Description

Swedish built high-quality centre cockpit bluewater cruiser for Rex Marin and Carl Beyer. Comprehensively refitted and upgraded for long-distance liveaboard cruising 2017-2023, and now ready for anything.

    BROKER’S FURTHER COMMENTS:

Launched in 1998, MARATIMI has had just three private owners since build. Constructed by Rex Marin in Henan (Aphrodite was later incorporated into Najad Yachts) to designs by Carl Beyer, the Aphrodite 42 enjoys an enviable reputation for solid construction, safe & predictable sailing manners and beautiful finishes.

Purchased by her second owner with a view to embarking on a circumnavigation, MARAITIMI was comprehensively refitted, taking care of all aspects from her hull and deck, through to her rigging, electrics, plumbing and navigation instruments. A particular focus was given towards low energy cruising with installation of wind-vane self-steering, wind generator, solar panels, LED internal lighting and a UV/charcoal water filtration system. Her specification highlights include:-
    • Fin keel with semi-balanced skeg-hung rudder
    • Kiwigrip non-slip deck finish (no teak decks)
    • Volvo Penta 62hp engine with low hours run
    • Bowthruster
    • Copper-coated hull with epoxy system
    • Inmast furling, genoa furling and hank-on staysail
    • Self-tailing winches
    • Recently replaced sail wardrobe
    • B&G instrument package with chart plotter, radar, autopilot and AIS
    • Twin fridges
    • Hot air cabin heating system
    • UV/charcoal water filtration system
    • Wind generator
    • Solar panels with stern gantry
    • Wind vane self-steering gear
    • Completely revised electrical, gas and plumbing installations.
    • New batteries
    • New battery charger
    • LED lighting internally
    • Holding tanks

Now ashore in Trinidad, MARAILIMI is available for immediate delivery in the Caribbean.

    OWNER’S COMMENTS:

We purchased MARATIMI from a German university professor who was the second owner of the boat. He had spent a lot of time and resources preparing her for a circumnavigation of the world with his family. Most of the work was carried out by a specialised shipyard in Germany during the period 2017-20 and at a cost of approx. Euro 125,000. Unfortunately, a change in plans meant that their circumnavigation was cancelled, leaving MARATIMI 100% ready to go.

After owning a various bluewater cruising yachts in the past, including a Bowman 45, and having crossed the Atlantic many times, we were attracted to MARATIMI by her high-quality Swedish construction, her soft-riding underwater profile (long fin keel and skeg-supported rudder) and her complete cruising inventory. While the Aphrodite 42 was available as both a sloop (as is MARATIMI) and a ketch, the sloop version benefits from a taller mast and large genoa area which benefits overall performance and simplifies sail handling.

MARATIMI is now ashore in Trinidad for the topical storm season.
