Following several years of frenetic activity across the market, the Grabau International team has capitalised on a normalised market landscape to consolidate our position as a leading light within the international yacht brokerage market.
The yachting market playing field has now levelled, with the days of long lead times for new-build orders well behind us. The ready availability of new stock from manufacturers has allowed yacht values to follow a more predictable depreciation curve, creating an environment where prices make sense, and deals can be done quickly and to the satisfaction of all parties. Like all professional brokerage houses, we continue to work extremely hard to win listings in an environment where we are seeing many owners choose to stick with the yachts they have and, therefore, attempt to insulate themselves from any market changes and perhaps get some more value from a boat they may have paid a heavy price to buy during the recent market peak. We do not see the market returning to the same peak levels anytime soon, so we advise owners who wish to sell to get their yacht to market sooner rather than later and enjoy its continued usage as we work to find a buyer. On the flip side, the slightly quieter market and our willingness to decline unrealistically priced listings allows us more time and resources to focus on our well-priced listings, which continue to sell at pace in this savvy market. There is no substitute for hard work, and I am blessed to have a team that is not scared of it.
One of the biggest challenges we have faced in 2024 has not been buyers, sellers or their yachts but the frankly ludicrous uplift in marketing costs for those yachts we carry. We are now well used to a world with a higher cost of living, but when some primary digital marketing platforms choose to increase their pricing levels not by fractions but multiples of their original costs, these changes have created enormous ramifications throughout the global brokerage industry. Many brokerage houses have been left unable to meet the costs now demanded by this elevated global marketing level, and the result is a two-tiered industry environment: those who can afford to market their client’s yachts using the primary global digital platforms and those who cannot. Fortunately, through our continual commitment to reinvestment in profits, we have remained in the camp of those who can and will. Our comprehensive marketing program has remained intact across all major digital marketing platforms, social media spaces and print publications. Our mission remains clear: to continue growing Grabau International and provide the best professional and personal ABYA-qualified service to our owners and buyers worldwide, whatever the cost.
As we look ahead to 2025 and our 10th year, we thank all our new and old clients for your continuing support of our business and wish everyone a very happy and prosperous New Year.
We look forward to working with you in 2025!
