The Hylas Yachts Power Yacht Range

Hylas M44 / M49

“Queen Long Marine has joined forces with famed Southern-Hemisphere naval architect and yacht builder Dean Salthouse, to bring the Hylas Yachts M44 & M49 to the European and American markets. Salthouse Next Generation yachts from New Zealand have long been known for building boats of exceptional durability, functionality and strength. The well-proven 44 feet motor yacht (49 feet in extended cockpit M49 version) is no exception and is the ideal vessel for those who are interested in a luxurious yacht easily capable of crossing the English Channel, navigating the Norwegian Fjords or cruising the Mediterranean.

The Hylas Yachts M44 & M49 were developed to handle the sea-states found around the formidable coastline of New Zealand with a stable and forgiving hull form, creating a dry and comfortable ride in all conditions. The aft cockpit is large, yet secure and offers comfortable and protected seating whilst under way or at anchor. With her clear-covers securely attached, her open-plan level living space belies that of her length.

Two different superstructure styles are available in both Hylas M44 and Hylas M49 hull lengths. The more classic ‘Cabriolet’ features classics-styled saloon windows coupled with a shorter overhang to the aft cockpit. A pull-out bimini is provided to ensure complete protection when required. The ‘Euro’ features a more contemporary saloon window shape combined with a longer overhang to provide full protection to the aft cockpit. Either superstructure style can be ordered at no additional cost.

With a variety of layouts available including the option of a second aft heads the bright and airy interior spaces of the Hylas M44 & M49 allow enjoyable long periods aboard exploring favourite island chains or distant anchorages. The outward visibility is remarkable from every position in the main cabin thanks to the large windscreen, side window and aft window and door, whilst her large integral sunroofs can be opened to allow plentiful ventilation.”

Hylas M58

“COMING SOON…

The M58 comes in both a flybridge and sedan version, and with her swim platform extended, she measures 64 feet 7 inches length overall. Zurn calls the hull design on this Downeast-style yacht more of a planing hull form than semi-displacement. The vinylester resin hull (cored with Corecell throughout) has 16.5-degree transom deadrise and a fine entry.

With that hull form and standard twin 725 hp Volvo Penta D-11 IPS2 950s, the M58 will reportedly top out at 27 knots and cruise at 23 knots. However, owners can match their speedster status with one of three other power options as well. To bump the yacht’s maximum and cruise speeds up 2 knots each, owners can go with twin Volvo Penta D-13 IPS3 1050s. The yacht’s third power option, Volvo Penta D-13 IPS3 1200s, will reportedly push the M58 to a 32-knot top speed and a 27-knot cruise. Finally, the utmost power comes from twin 1,000 hp Volvo Penta D-13 IPS3 1350s that provide a 35-knot top speed, Zurn says. With that option, she will cruise at 30 knots for a 750-nautical-mile range.

On the sedan version of the M58, the yacht’s sun deck has two sun pads as well as speakers for sunbathing jams. On the flybridge version, she’ll have a secondary helm station protected by a venturi windshield, and the space will have a Bimini top. On both versions, the deckhouse hardtop extends to cover the yacht’s cockpit, but three sun roofs still let in some rays.

The M58 has a 3-stateroom layout belowdecks, “centered around a lower-deck foyer with a stacked washer-dryer in a locker to port,” Zurn says. A forepeak en suite stateroom has an island queen berth, as does the amidships stateroom. The latter’s berth is awthwartships to starboard, and its head is to port. The yacht’s third stateroom with twin bunks is forward and to starboard, and its head is opposite, doubling as a day head.

As for layout, the M58’s glass doors leading into the deck house “all but disappear,” Zurn says. This allows for clear sightlines from the aft cockpit to the forward helm station, a design aspect Hylas clients have said they wanted. Zurn designed the yacht’s galley aft for this reason, and opposite the helm is a settee with table. And since the galley’s aft window lowers into the counter to form a cockpit bar, guests can grab a stool to enjoy a cocktail with a breeze.
