Introducing the CMY 173

Posted

“The CMY161 and CMY173 measure 53ft and 57ft respectively and feature striking angular styling, with an unusual raised-pilothouse design. But it’s what’s hiding under the transom locker that differentiates them from every other competitor on the market – triple 300hp diesel outboard engines.”  – Motor Boat & Yachting

”There’s some really clever thinking behind this,” says MBY Editor Hugo Andreae. “I particularly like the fact you can run one or two engines only without the usual problems of drag and unbalanced engine hours.

Clever thinking indeed!  The CMY 173 is the three-guest cabin big sister to the CMY 161, with its two-guest cabins.  Both models share the same ideology, engineering, design, and innovative use of technology.

At the heart of both models are these core values:

  • Distinctive Styling that is unique, yet timeless

  • Ecologically Minded Powering – Diesel Outboards and ‘ECO Mode”

  • Maximized Social Spaces

  • State of the Art Technology – OXE, Touch Table, Gyro Stabilizer

  • Supreme Build Quality

  • Fully Functional Base Specification

  • Best Value in Class

Revolutionary ‘Eco Mode’ gives nearly 3000-mile range.  At the heart of the CMY 173 concept are the new, environmentally friendly, triple OXE Marine diesel outboards. Powered by BMW engines and hidden undercover, the advantages of these engines are numerous: reduced noise & vibration, significant access advantages for maintenance & repair, greatly reduced engine room costs.

During ‘Eco Mode’ the outer two engines are kept raised, thus reducing drag and increasing fuel economy.  Only the middle engine is used to drive the boat.

The OXE diesel is extremely fuel efficient, using 30 to 40 percent less fuel than gasoline equivalents. They are easy to service for oil and filter changes, and super easy to clear, or even change, a fouled or damaged prop without going in the water!

OXE Diesel Outboard. Each CMY with OXE Diesel Outboards comes with two years of OXE ‘365 Butler Service’, which is 24 hour a day, 365 days of the year, remote monitoring and service access.  If the OXE technicians can not resolve an issue remotely or locally within 48 hours, they will dispatch technicians to your boat anywhere in the world.

More ergonomic use of space  Featuring walk-over side decks allows the saloon to be carried out to the sides of the hull, increasing usable saloon volume by approximately 45%.  Utilizing the full beam makes the CMY saloon feel like a boat that is 10’ longer and enhances the use of the boat while you are on board.

The space normally used as walkways around the deckhouse is utilized for the galley and saloon seating.

Let the sun shine in  The guest accommodations feature oversized overhead hatches to let in the sun, and fresh air, as well as beautifully sculpted hull ports for an outside view.

Two saloon layout choices – Standard or Open Plan Two available layouts – ‘Standard’ with the galley down and slightly out of view, or the ‘Open Plan’ with the galley up with a dinning bar surrounding the galley.  Depending on how you use your boat or how you entertain, you can tailor the layout to suit your needs.

The Standard layout with the galley down features a U-shaped dining area to port that can double as a bed when needed. It is raised above the saloon floor to provide for better viewing through the panoramic side windows.  Aft of this on port is a storage cabinet that includes a lift up TV. Opposite, U-shaped lounge seating can also be converted to a bed or, when the saloon doors are opened, it becomes part of the outside seating. The galley is down just a few steps and is tucked slightly out of sight, but still open enough to allow conversation with the rest of the guests while cooking.

The Open Plan layout with the galley on the main level, has ample counter space for any occasion or need. The bar area can be used for dining or serving and is also accessible to the aft deck when the bi-fold doors are open.  The dining table can expand when needed for group dining or kept small for cocktail parties.

‘Touch Table’ aft deck dining table/entertainment screen  Both layouts feature a fully functional computer driven touch screen that allows you to surf the internet for sites such as BOYD, read emails, look at AIS for local vessel tracking, view the ships manuals, and so much more.  It tilts up to be used as a large screen 4K, high definition, TV screen to watch your favorite movies or sports programs.  It is designed and built for rugged environments, as it is waterproof to an IP67 rating and can operate in temperatures of 55 degrees Celsius, as well as being used in full sun.

Supreme build quality  The town of Pietarsaari, Finland is known as one of Europe’s finest boatbuilding regions.  Ocean Quality Systems is among three World-Class yards who provide unrivalled build quality and craftsmanship.  They build their own line of ocean-going sailing catamarans marketed as the ‘Ocean Explorer Catamarans’.  OQS also builds components, such as hulls, decks and other parts for two of the premier sailing yacht builders in the world which, as mentioned above, are in the same town.  OQS is building the CMY 173 and CMY 161 to the same high standards that they do for their own line, as well as that of the other companies they subcontract to.

The Finnish craftsmen and women of Pietarsaari are known around the world for their expertise in wood working and extreme high levels of composite lamination/engineering.  The CMY yachts feature real wood joinery and veneers, as well as high-tech resin-infused hull and deck. The emphasis on all CMY yachts is ultimate craftsmanship combined with state of the art, high strength to weight components that add to a long life for the vessel, which also reduces fuel consumption.

High level of standard specification Each CMY comes standard with features such as: Bow Thruster, Generator, Air Conditioning, Joy Stick with Position Holding, Touch Table, Saloon TV and Stereo, Siren Marine remote monitoring, Windlass, PLC system monitoring, Electric toilets, Zipwake dynamic trim and anti-roll control system, and more…..

The introductory base boat price of 1,450,000 Euros puts the CMY 173 in a class of its own when it comes to styling, performance, features and value.
