Grabau International is delighted to announce the listing of the 1989 Oyster 68 ‘MOONSHADOW OF LORNE’.
Very well-presented MCA Cat 2 coded example of the range-topping Oyster 68. Extensively refitted in 2009 and operating as a highly successful skippered charter business in Scotland.
FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:
Listed in association with our Scottish partners Mark Cameron Yachts, MOONSHADOW OF LORNE is a well-presented example of this eye-catching Holeman & Pye design, the flagship of the Oyster fleet at the time of her launch. The Oyster 68 proved to be a huge success for the company, offered on a semi-custom basis no two boats built were identical. Just 12 boats were built before the design was revised and launched as the Oyster 70.
MOONSHADOW OF LORNE was subject to a major re-fit in 2008/09 which included topsides and superstructure re-finishing, new teak decks, complete machinery overhaul prior to purchase by the current. She has been in the current ownership for almost a decade and during that time has been lovingly maintained and upgrade.
Currently MCA CAT 2 Coded for 12 guests and 2 crew MOONSHADOW OF LORNE is operating as a highly successful luxury skippered charter business on Scotland’s west coast. She offers 11 berths over 5 separate cabins, all with en-suite heads. The business is available to purchase by separate negotiation.
OWNER’S COMMENTS:
Moonshadow started life as a private yacht, cruising extensively throughout the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and northern Europe. We acquired her after she had benefitted from a major refit in 2009 and have maintained her to MCA compliance standards. We have found her to be a safe, swift and reliable yacht that is easily handled, under sail or power, by two people. She has provided our charter guests with a comfortable and spacious home-from-home, both at sea and at anchor.
BUILDER’S COMMENTS:
The Oyster 68 has proven success as a world-class cruising yacht. Each of these yachts has had a different layout and equipment selection and this experience enables us to offer future owners an unrivalled choice. Rounding Cape Horn or cruising the Patagonian Icecap, the Oyster 68 has exceeded her owners’ expectations.
It is the first yacht in our range to use a computer generated high-performance keel aimed at maximising stability and sailing performance while maintaining moderate draft.
The Oyster 68 is a fine example of British boatbuilding quality and is competitive in every way.
