New Listing – 1993 JFA 75 Alloy Custom Sloop

Posted

Utterly fantastic custom aluminium performance sloop from JFA in France to designs by Finot Conq & Patrick Roséo. Continually and comprehensively updated and refitted during her last ownership of 20yrs.

FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:

Custom built by JFA in France in 1993 to designs by Finot Conq & Patrick Roséo, RUNAWAY BUNNY (originally named KERMOR) was conceived as a ‘money no object’ stylish light displacement ocean cruiser to take her first owner around the world in comfort, safety and at speed. In terms of design, she was well ahead of her time, with a fine bow entry, broad stern, water ballast tanks and powerful yet easily-managed rig with swept-back spreaders. Below decks, she was also light-years ahead of her counterparts with a bright and airy interior featuring proper double berths for owner and guests.

Purchased by her current and third owner in 2004, RUNAWAY BUNNY has been used privately for cruising on both sides of the Atlantic. Maintained by a full-time captain and with a continual program of refit and upgrade, often back at the JFA shipyard, RUNAWAY BUNNY has never been left wanting for anything. She has benefitted from comprehensive upgrades in the last twenty years costing in excess of Euro 800,000.

Her specification highlights are many and include:-
• Aluminium hull, deck and superstructure construction
• 4-cabin, 4-heads interior layout with master cabin in the bow and twin double cabins aft
• Carbon fibre mast
• Movable water ballast
• 3.00m shoal-draft keel draft

OWNER’S COMMENTS:

I have owned ‘RUNAWAY BUNNY’ since 2004 and only used her as a private yacht for cruising predominantly throughout the East Coast of the US, Caribbean and Mediterranean.

During the 2022-2023 season ‘RUNAWAY BUNNY’ has traveled 12,000 NM and has sailed from the Newport Rhode Island, Bermuda, Dutch West Indies, Antigua, Iceland, Ireland, France, North of Spain, Portugal and Mallorca to date.

She has amazing sailing characteristics thanks to her 2,500lts of freshwater ballast. On a number of occasions, she has easily completed 340+ nm runs in 24 hours making for some of the most exciting sailing, she is ahead of her time! This proved to be a massive safety feature this season, being able to catch systems and having the ability to get out of the way of fast-moving lows. This is something that is becoming more important with the changes in global weather patterns, having the ability to point very high and also make great milage.

MANUFACTURER’S COMMENTS:

A modern hull shape, directly influenced by our racing experience, but specially adapted to cruising a fine bow entry for comfort when passing through waves, a stern transom designed for stability under sail with special control and flair when going downwind’. This is how Pascal Conq – chief architect at the firm of Finot Conq resumes the design. Two months after being launched Kermor took to the open ocean to undertake a circumnavigation and continues her voyage to this day.

MANUFACTURER’S HISTORY:

JFA Yachts was founded in March 1993 at Concarneau in Brittany, a region in France rich in maritime heritage.
Kermor, a 75’ light displacement sailing yacht, was the first yacht produced by the shipyard. Kermor means ‘ house on the sea’ in Bretton. Her owner christened the yacht after a hotel on the ‘Sables Blancs‘beach in Concarneau where he took up residence during the construction of the yacht. “It was fascinating going through this building process with JFA, I felt I was at home. My Yacht is called Kermor and will indeed be my home on the water. Kermor is just as I imagined her, we built her together.” Kermor’s owner. These words still resonate at JFA Yachts because they resume perfectly the shipyards’ approach: we don’t build a yacht for a client, but with a client. This characterizes what we call today, a Boutique Shipyard; where the expertise, the savoir-faire, and family environment make the construction project into a unique experience. Today nearly 30 new build and 40 refit projects, yachts, both sailing and motor, monohull, and multihull, built from both aluminium and composite explore the planet. Not one has really left JFA Yachts’ sight.
