DESIGNERS BACKGROUND:
Luca di Rosa graduated from the University of Genoa in 1997 as a Naval Architect as part of the course at the Ship Science Department of the University of Southampton.
Whilst still a student, Luca participated in the “Mucillagine Rosa” building, a ULDB 50 designed by Paolo Cori in 1990. Luca’s relationship with Paolo Cori introduced him to a design method based on the study of the various balance agents on the boat and as a result of innovative structural solutions and beyond any constraint. An example is the passing drift, which combines a correct centring with the integration of the same in the structure with obvious advantages on the performance and sturdiness of the boat.
Following graduation, Luca went on to work at the studio of Luca Brenta in Milan, participating in the design of the first Wally Yachts and other projects. Following this, he designed and built a series of three sailboats: SantaBarbara, VillaSandrini and Assuntina.
Since 2007 Luca has been working with QI composites to analyse yachts such as “Rambler”, “Alfa Romeo”, “Mari-Cha III”, J-Class “Ranger” in addition to the modern TP 52, Volvo Ocean Race yachts and the America’s Cup.
