Grabau International is delighted to announce the new listing of the 2003 Malo 36 ‘HELVICK’.
A very high-quality Scandinavian built, aft cockpit cruising yacht. Well-appointed below decks offering comfortable accommodation for 6 with two double cabins. Refitted in 2012 for comfortable short-handed, all-weathers cruising.
FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:
Commissioned in 2003 and in only her second ownership, HELVICK has been very lightly used for just a few weeks of each year.
Her aft cockpit design stands her apart from other Scandinavian built cruising yachts of this size. With the fixed windscreen forward and targa arch supported spray hood and substantial coamings outboard the cockpit is well protected in all weathers. The mainsheet being mount on top of the arch leaves the cockpit completely clear of obstructions. Below decks the large open plan saloon and galley provide a comfortable and bright living space. Her sleeping cabins have generously sized bunks with lots of storage throughout the living space.
HELVICK’s specification highlights include: • Tides Marine ultra low friction mainsail slide system for fully-battened mainsail • Stackpack and lazyjacks • Andersen winches • Upgraded mainsheet system • Removable inner forestay with hank-on staysail • Cruising chute with snuffer • Raymarine radar chart plotter at chart table and at helm • Standalone secondary helm chart plotter with AIS • Eberspacher heating • Seawater cooled refrigeration • Electric heads • Sprung mattress in master cabin • Fitted carpets
OWNER’S COMMENTS:
I purchased Helvick from the first owner in late 2008. She was berthed in Mercury Marina, in the Hamble. She had hardly been used and there were less than 50 hours on the engine. We left her there for the winter, and brought her to Malahide in 2009.
As I was busy with other projects, she was not used extensively during 2009 to 2011. During the winter of 2011 and early 2012 she was upgraded with new sails, inner forestay, sprayhood and cockpit covers and a host of small items changed, with the intention of cruising her for extended periods. She was cruised in 2012 from mid-April until October. In 2013 she was again cruised during the summer months. But in 2014 and 2015 she was sailed for only two weeks each year, and since then, she has seen only 7-8 weeks use each year, remaining out of commission between times.
HELVICK is very comfortable boat to live in and to sail, with loads of storage space, and it is with deep regret that she has to be sold, but the time has come to accept that a smaller yacht may suit my available time and cruising plans. Throughout my ownership she has been improved and upgraded and kept in first class condition and she is now for sale with all her inventory, cruising gear and extras, all of which are in good order.
If it is a Malo 36 you are looking for, this is the one to view – she is in such great condition she won’t fail to impress.
