SULA is a well-presented example of the Hanse 385 class. Designed by the highly regarded Judel & Vrolijk the design offers a modern take on the conventional 38 foot cruising yacht. The sleek appearance and clutter free decks with self-tacking jib produce a boat which is easily handled short or single handed while providing rewarding performance under sail. Below decks the modern design sees large open living spaces with lots of storage creating a comfortable and light living space.
SULA is currently MCA CAT 2 coded by MECAL and operating as a charter boat in the North West of Scotland. Her most recent mid-term inspection was May 2018. She has been operated by the current owners since 2013 and during this period has enjoyed continual maintenance. Below decks she has three double cabins with the saloon converting to provide an additional occasional double, comfortable accommodation for a crew of eight. Offered for sale with a complete inventory she comes with everything required to continue operating in the charter market or to be enjoyed as a private yacht. Her inventory includes full laid teak decks and cockpit, self-tacking jib and tender with outboard.
Currently lying afloat in the North West of Scotland; easily accessible from Inverness Airport. Viewing is by prior appointment.
MANUFACTURER’S COMMENTS:
Hanse 385 is the 4th new model out of the new Hanse family of Hanse dynamic cruisers, characterized by the optimum space efficiency and comfort from 11m hull as well as the outstanding cruising performances. In a standard equipment you’ll get two steering wheels in the cockpit, fold-down stern boarding platform, optimum deck gear distribution and a self-tacking jib. Spacious and functional interior and safe and enjoyable exterior make Hanse 385 a desirable yacht for sailors appreciating fast cruising or anchoring in a beautiful day.
PRESS REVIEW:
‘Hanse Yachts builds performance-oriented yachts at affordable prices, all designed by Judel and Vrolijk. Hanse’s current sailboat range incorporates a great many practical innovations suggested by previous owners, and the 385 is a very different boat from its predecessor, the 375. More akin to the Hanse 445, 495 and 545, the Hanse 385 boasts twin helms and a drop-down stern platform. She also has improved sailing performance and a sleek, clutter-free deck with flush hatches and hidden control lines…..’
‘CONCLUSION The 385 is a sensibly designed yacht full of practical innovations that can only have been created by someone who knows exactly what it’s like to go cruising under sail. Though she’s not exactly traditional in the classic sense, for a modern boat built to a price, she is surprisingly well thought through and is a sparkling performer under sail.’ Sail Magazine. ‘Sailing the Hanse 385’. Duncan Kent, March 2014.
