Grabau International is delighted to announce the listing of the comprehensively refitted De Vries Lentsch 19m Navetta ‘MEDISTAR’.
Elegant traditional gentleman’s motor yacht from the legendary De Vries Lentch and Dutch build by De Ruiter in 1976. Comprehensively refitted in 2005/6/7.
FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:
MEDISTAR represents a fantastic opportunity to acquire a comprehensively refitted motor yacht that combines to two of the most famous names in luxury motor yacht manufacturer. Built in steel by De Ruiter of Holland to designs by the legendary De Vries Lentsch, MEDISTAR is every bit the mini superyacht.
MEDISTAR was built for the Krupp family for their own use with the very best quality steel available with no limit to the construction budget. The Krupp family, a prominent 400-year old German dynasty from Essen, have become famous for their production of steel (In 1999 the Krupp firm merged with Thyssen AG to form ThyssenKrupp AG, a large industrial conglomerate). The strength of the Krupp steel became so famous that the word Krupp is today a synonymous of strength in Germany. MEDISTAR was later sold to the Zanussi family, one of the most important Italian industrial families, and then later a lawyer from Naples. In 2005 a charter company bought MEDISTAR as a flagship boat for their charter company and converted the yacht to a luxurious Navetta for charter with an extensive refit carried out plus the fitment of new Naiad roll stabilizers to improve comfort at sea.
Her refit highlights included: • Redesign of her flybridge with fitment of second helm controls • Redesign of stern with opening pushpit to allow easy access to the aft cockpit • Hull sand-blasted and repainted • Fitment of new Cummins 6-cylinder diesels • Overhaul of all machinery spaces • Overhaul of stabilisers • Fitment of twin Onan generators • Refitting of electrical systems • Fitment of new Raytheon navigation systems • Fitment of watermaker • Upgrading of air-conditioning system • Complete overhaul and updating of domestic equipment • Naiad roll stabilizer
Now very seriously for sale, MEDISTAR is offered at a fraction of the price of her stablemates of similar provenance or refit history.
OWNER’S COMMENTS:
“MEDISTAR is a fantastic Dutch build Navetta for cruising in style. She cruises at 10 knots at 2000 rpm with a 40 litres per hour consumption (50 l/h with generator running). Her structures has been checked in 2017 and she is in good condition after more than 40 years. She is an evergreen design with which you will fall in love”
DESIGNER’S COMMENTS:
De Vries Lentsch Yachts B.V. has its origin in 1878 when De Vries Lentsch started as builder and designer of wooden rowing boats for the port of Amsterdam. The yard was situated at the North of Amsterdam and constructed an enormous number of life boats, particularly after the disaster of the Titanic, and started with the construction and sale of sailing yachts and motorboats which gained a worldwide reputation.
After the second world war the yard participated in the Feadship organisation and produced a series of high class motor yachts in the 1950’s. In 1960 the design department of the yard split off marking the start of De Vries Lentsch Yacht Designers & Naval Architects. Since then over a thousand designs have been produced. All the projects have a recognizable De Vries Lentsch style!
