FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:

NEVERLAND is the most outstanding Baltic 60, fully custom-designed By Bruce Farr, R&J Designs, and Vismara and built in Glass-Kevlar and Carbon in epoxy vacuum construction. The rudder is JP3 Autoclave carbon fibre, mast and boom is Hall Spars autoclave carbon single piece made by Hall Spars America. NERVERLAND represents the “golden Age of Baltic Yachts and the construction, systems and teak veneer interiors are a masterpiece

Originally launched as MATTONE and supplied to an Italian owner, NEVERLAND has led a very pampered life with frequent visits back to the Vismara/Baltic Yachts Italia shipyard in Viareggio for refits and updates. In recent seasons, NEVERLAND has benefitted from over Euro 750,000 in refits carried out in 2014/15, 2016 and 2019.

Designed to be a very fast and luxurious performance cruising yacht, many of her most recent modifications have been focussed on making her easily-handled by the smallest of crews and even single-handed. The addition of a Hall Spars custom furling carbon boom, furling cutter stays, gennaker, control lines led aft to the helm cockpit and full complement of electric winches allow NEVERLAND to be sailed from the helm cockpit with ease. Under power, her retractable bowthruster and recently replaced Yanmar engine with custom 4-bladed propeller make manoeuvring very easy, assisted by her slippery hull, large elliptical rudder and modern stainless steel keel with lead bulb.

Below decks, NEVERLAND feels as fresh as the day she was launched, thanks to a comprehensive overhaul. With stunning teak joinery (over carbon sandwich bulkheads) finished to a standard only seen in Baltic Yachts and with recently replaced upholstery and domestic amenities, NEVERLAND looks after her guests well, with accommodation split across four cabins with the main owner’s cabin set low and central beneath the central guest cockpit.

Privately used, Maltese-flagged and offered for sale inclusive of EU VAT, NEVERLAND is 100% ready for her next custodian with delivery from late August 2022, leaving plenty of time to prepare for the Baltic Yachts 50th Anniversary Regatta in Porto Rotondo in September 2023.

BUILDER’S COMMENTS:

NEVERLAND (ex MATTONE) was the first of two 60ft sisterships (the other being ULTIMATE THIRD) designed by Bruce Farr. The key aim of this project was to develop a high quality cruiser/racer with a level of performance that you wouldn´t normally associate with this type of sailing yacht.

This led to extra effort being put into weight reduction wherever possible, without compromising the comfort and equipment inventory one would expect on a cruising yacht of this calibre.

One example of this drive for reduced weight focused on the fixed keel fin which was manufactured using an efficient casting process, enabling greater weight to be concentrated low down in the lead bulb.

Despite this yacht’s racing potential she had a luxurious interior with the owner’s suite situated almost amidships leading directly into a large, comfortable saloon.

DESIGNER’S COMMENTS:

NEVERLAND is a performance cruiser with Mediterranean set up, all about italian style and designed to achieve the maximum performance with interior and exterior lines and volumes that are comfortable, practical, and elegant. It is an ultra-modern craft, with aesthetic details that give it a “classic” style.

The main characteristics are the layout of the deck plan, with large areas for guest, organised into two cockpits: a central one for guests and one from which to skipper the craft, with all of the main sail handling, properly arranged around the wheel, which is large in size and therefore more practical for cruising use. The deck design also stands out for the low, continuous deckhouse, from bow to stern. The mast and boom are in carbon. NEVERLAND is a very fast boat, thanks to medium-light displacement but also to a significant sail surface and long extensions.

The interiors have the master cabin amidships – the most stable point of the craft while sailing, with a double bed under the central cockpit, in a position where the engine is usually to be found, except that this time, together with all the installations, the engine has been moved to an area under the stern cockpit. This solution has been made possible by the increasingly light weight of installations which therefore no longer risk compromising trim as well as being perfect with the powerful hull lines of NEVERLAND with its large volumes aft. Also, in the interests of comfort, the soleboard level in the master cabin is lower than on the rest of the craft as well as being full beam. Continuing forward, there are two more cabins, with a large, shared bathroom: a double, off-centre cabin on the port side bulwark and a twin with the beds set out in a V. A fourth double cabin aft has an independent entrance from the deck, like the two in the bow.
