Commissioned when new by pair of experienced Malo owners the boat was built and fitted out to take part in the ARC of 2000. During successive ownerships she proved to be the ideal boat for blue water cruising. Competing in the ARC again with her next owners before cruising the eastern seaboard of America and the Caribbean, including completing the Newport – Bermuda race. During her globe-trotting she encountered all kinds of weather including a 75 knot Biscay storm, taking it all in her stride. Returning to the UK she moved north to cruise the waters of Scotland’s west coast in the current ownership.

Her aft cockpit design stands her apart from other Scandinavian built cruising yachts of this size. With the fixed windscreen forward and targa arch supported spray hood and substantial coamings outboard the cockpit is well protected in all weathers. The mainsheet being mount on top of the arch leaves the cockpit completely clear of obstructions. Below decks the large open plan saloon and galley provide a comfortable and bright living space. All cabins have generously sized bunks with lots of storage throughout the living space.

A blue water cruiser which has proved herself more than capable of crossing oceans or family coastal cruising.

Designed by Leif Ängermark , the hull of the Malö 45 offers her owner a very manoeuvrable boat under sail and power. This is not surprising when you take into account her sweet lines, maximum waterline length and beam thus ensuring excellent stability.

The Malö 45 combines the latest in design technology with hundreds of hours of engineering time spend developing a yachts that can set sail for all ports of call around the world with ease. Malö Yachts 45 is a yacht to be proud of. Built as a genuine offshore yacht for the discerning sailor, she is ideal for serious, long distance cruising as well as ample living accommodation aboard.

MANUFACTURER HISTORY:

Johannes Olsson started the company 1939, building wooden yachts. Johannes’ sons, Bo and Orvar Olsson took over the business in 1963 and built their first GRP Malö Yachts in 1969. Lars and Bengt Olsson, sons of Bo assumed responsibility of Malö Yachts in 1984 and ran the company until 2008 when Bob Erixon bought the yard.

Malö Yachts is now part of Sweden Yachts Group, which also encompasses Sweden Yachts, CR Yachts and Regina of Vindö.
