FURTHER BROKER’S COMMENTS:
Designed by German Frers for Alan Morgan Yachting, the Mystic 60 is a truly iconic bluewater cruising yacht, originally constructed in Taiwan by Ta Shing Yachts. Over the years, the design evolved with various incarnations built with sloop and ketch rigs. Laterly, Alan Morgan moved construction to the UK and the Cygnus Marine shipyard in Falmouth, where three further Mystic 60’s were built, including GREGAL V, which was constructed in 2002 and launched in 2002.
Boasting a modern raised-saloon profile, allowing for an upper internal chart table position with unrestricted outward vision, GREGAL V is simply perfect for effortless and safe ocean passages, something well proven with a 6th place in the ARC and a passage time between Las Palma and Saint Lucia of 18 days and just 12 days from Cape Verdes to the Caribbean island.
Her specification highlights include:- • Raised saloon profile with upper chart table position and central exterior cockpit arrangement. • Versatile 4-cabin, 4-head layout with fantastic owner’s cabin aft • Repainted topsides and rig during 2019 refit • Teak decks – overhauled during 2021 refit • Reliable Perkins Sabre 115T diesel engine • Maxprop • Bowthruster • Cutter rig with Reckmann hydraulic genoa furling • Dyneema mainsail and genoa • Fully-battened mainsail • Andersen electric winches • Retractable pole for asymmetric spinnaker • HFL 7kva generator • 24vDC domestic electronics • Aquafresh 120lph watermaker • Dometic air conditioning • Davits with tender and outboard • B&G instruments • Thrane & Thrane fleet broadband satellite communications • Icom SSB radio • Fridge and freezers • Electric heads • Davits with Zodiac tender and outboard

“While sailing back from the Fastnet a few years ago with Alan Morgan, we set to define what would in our minds be the ideal yacht.
Very soon we agreed she had to be fast and elegant, to have a nice motion at sea, be responsive and lively but at the same time strong and comfortable. We were dreaming of a hot shower and cozy dry berth, a galley where to cook and a big comfortable saloon. A functional deck so that she could be handled as easily as the racing boat we were sailing, but without as many crew, (whose personalities were beginning to impose on everybody). A lot of time was dedicated to arguing about pros and cons of the centre cockpit versus the aft cockpit without being able to come to a conclusion. Adding up everything we arrived at the conclusion that the hull had to be between 55 and 62 ft, long, with moderate draught and spade rudder. Alan was so enthusiastic with the results of our discussion that he decided there and then these were to be the basic parameters to be used for the design of the new MYSTIC 60, a yacht I am proud to have drawn.”
